THE Story ~ Calf lipo…

Hello Everyone,

I’m currently in Medan and have completed my calf lipo surgery and fat transfer to forehead yesterday. Was too tired to update as I slept through after the surgery.

2nd time back to Medan (a year later), everything seem so familiar. My mum and I love the new airport! Compared to the old airport this is definitely so much better.

Yesterday there was a hour delay with our flight and I was panicking and worrying the driver might have left if he did not check flight or though that Im one of those playing prank. To my surprise he was there waiting at the pick up area. I was so glad to see him! The journey to the clinic took close to 2 hrs as there was a heavy traffic. The kind driver played madarin radio therefore the long jouney was pretty bearable.

Finally we arrived at the clinic. Place is still cosy as usual, apart from some new staff. There is one very nice nurse (dunno how to spell her name) who is still around from my last visit. To my surprise she still remembered us a year later.

The same routine, bath with dettol and take measurements, followed by consultation with Dr. Arthur. This time round for my calf I am exceptionally nervous about it. While  waiting for doctor’s consultation, my heart suddenly just went racing without control. I was scared and worried about the pain level. I understand that calf is the most painful among all…the kind nurse was trying to calm me down and kept asking me to relax. My mum tried her best to relax me by showing me some videos of my cute nephew and that really help abit! Finally Doctor came in, we took some time to discuss about the procedure and Dr Arthur as usual patiently explained to me and my mum what is expected of the procedure.

Calf is one of the hardest part to do as it consists of muscles and nerves. As the doctor explained, patient need to be realistic of the result as many a time when big calf is a result of prominent muscles, the result may not be as slim as we hope to be.

THE process :

Pain. IT’S painful. I was already drowsy from the medicine and I thought that will be good such that I would not be able to feel much pain or best till fall asleep. But I was so so wrong. The pain was so bad that it woken me up  totally from all drowsiness.I could only remember I kept on shouting pain and it was bad.. I can’t even recall how the doctor managed to calm me down.

I did not take note how long the whole process took, I only knew Dr Arthur extracted around 800ml from my calf. That is pretty much as compared to my arm which was 700ml. The after result is a much slimmer calf and I could see my muscle 😦  (I have to be realistic and accept this).

The transfer to forehead was pretty bearable though still able to feel some pain here and there. It makes my forehead rounder yet still natural. I like the result of the fat transfer to forehead and hoping that my fats will survive. A thing to note for fat transfer, due to the nature of the fats and stability, not 100% of fats will survived. Anything that stayed after the 3 to 6 months mark will be consider yours to keep.

I will be returning back to Sing tomorrow, and will be tidying my pixs for sharing very soon!

THE Story ~ Part 3 (Jowl & Neck)

Having shared on my arm lipo earlier, this post is about my jowl and neck lipo that I did in May 2013.

I have a chubby round face since young…although some people commented looks cute but honestly I don’t really like it. I have been researching ways to make my face slimmer. However I would never consider going through those bone cutting technique as that is far too invasive in my perspective.

I came to know that neck and chin lipo will give a slimmer face while I was researching on my arm lipo. I didn’t hesitate to do it together with my arm when I saw the good result of Dr Arthur’s patient. For sure the result would not be as drastic as bone cutting which gives a super V shape. I was realistic with the result. All I wanted was a less chubby face and defined neckline.

I did it on the same day as my arm. Pain scale wise…I didn’t feel too much pain for this. It could be also I was pretty much drowsy by then… the incisions were hidden behind the ears and also the side of the mouth area.

I’m someone who bruises easily, therefore I couldn’t escape with some minimum bruises on the lower part of my face. Apart from that just like when I do my arm lipo I have to wear the compression garment religiously, the chin and neck area need to be compressed as well. I was told to use the normal elastic bandage and wrap it round the neck chin area over the head.

I love and hate this! Apart from looking like a clown, the bandage kept slipping off from my head.. many morning I woke up with the bandage covering my eyes or face. Having said that, I need to say having the bandage on somehow promotes a slimmer face for me during the swelling period.

Overall, I’m super glad I did my jowl and neck as I have been told that I look slimmer even though the people cant pinpoint where exactly.

The result was better then I expect, my lower half face have slimmed down quite significantly over this 1 year post op.

Here some pre and post op pixs:

THE Story ~Part 2 (arm)

I can’t recall since when I have the fat arm..all I remembered was that I would avoid wearing sleeveless tops most time or otherwise pull over with a cardigan  to camouflage my fat arm. I would always envy those ladies who can pull off sleeveless top, tubes etc with their slim arm. So after much comtemplation and research, I planned my journey. I did my arm lipo with Dr. Arthur late May 2013. It have been a year and I simply love my arm! As of now, I’m very satisfied with my result and have since been confident to wear those sleeveless top very very frequently. My partner was jokingly with me that nowaday he can only me in sleeveless tops…

There are a number of airlines flying to Medan (Silkair,Tiger,Jetstar etc). If taking the budget airline, cost is pretty affordable ranging around $150 to $200plus.

It’s advisable to take the morning flight so that there is ample time for consultation and surgery thereafter. When I arrived at Elixir Devie, there was a little hiccup with my accomodation. I requested for a bedroom with attached bathroom however seems like the staff made a mistake and ended up there wasn’t any available room for 2 person and attached bathroom. The staff if I recalled correctly is a chinese lady named Stephanie, she did not apologies for the mistake and wanted to put me and my mum in a single room with no bathroom.

I was rather pissed off with the situation and then Dr. Arthur who overheard our conversation walked over. He lectured the staff stating that how could she expect us to squeeze in one single room. On top of that, he instructed her to  check with some patients who is leaving the next day to swap room with us. And we were lucky that there is a kind soul who is fine to swap room with us. So the episode for accomodation ends here. The next thing I did was to quickly shower with Dettol and was brought down to the consultation room to meet the doctor. The whole consultation last pretty long and it was a very detailed one. For those who have researched on Dr. Arthur would know that he only work on one case one patient per day. Once he accepted a case, he choose to dedicate that full day to be totally focus on that one patient,as he emphasize to achieve a masterpeice result.

Going through with a long and detailed consultation and dedicating the rest of the time for the surgery and monitoring the patient’s post surgery. I though the whole process makes the patient feels rather privileged as well.

THE Surgery ~

So, i was given some medicine and all before the surgery and by the time the surgery start I was a bit drowsy.I ca

n’t recall how long it took but my mum mentioned about 3plus hours. By the way, I  also did jowl and neck lipo. My tolerent of pain is actually not that high. Overall I would rate 5/10 for it. There are certain areas that was rather painful for me and I actually shouted out to doctor “pain..pain” many times and the reply from doctor makes me laugh whenever I recall back. His reply was “treat it as repay karma” ..therefore as long as I could remember..I keep hearing the word “karma”.

This doctor is really humourous I must say. Although painful but he managed to make me relax that bit!

My Result ~

700 ml of fats were extracted from my arm!

I regret not keeping my before photos therefore what I could share here will be the after results.

After lipo..the massaging is very important. If monie is not an issue you can always go for the massage package that Jennifer Cotto recommend in her emails. Otherwise you can get someone close to do it for you! My

partner massage me on a daily basis for one month and I felt that it does in a way speed up recovery! Here’s my post lipo pixs.

The first few pixs are taken after post op day 1and  swelling started kicking in.. and soreness can be felt. The last few few pix was taken last week (post op 1yr).

For myself, I could really see the drastic different before and after lipo and Im really really happy that I choose the right doctor.

THE Story ~ Part 1

I had my arm, jowl and neck lipo done in Medan by Dr. Arthur last year May. I’m booked for a trip back to Medan this coming Friday (exactly a year later) to do my calf and knee. My intention is to do thigh and calf but was rejected by Dr. Arthur as he mentioned that the swelling will be very bad.

I actually pestered him over several occasions about this but well I can understand where he is coming from so I took his advice to target one at a time.

THE Clinic ~ A year ago it was located quite near to the airport (est. 20 mins of driving). Understand the airport have since moved away and now it’s a 1.5 hour journey of drive away from the clinic location. Because of the long distance which takes the driver 3 hours for a round trip, the clinic is now charging a pick up fee of SGD22 per way. A round trip will be SGD44.

Of course that is optional and there are cheaper alternative which is to take the train and the driver will pick up the patient from the train station with no cost. For my coming trip, I opted for pick up directly from airport as I do not want to go through the hassle since my mum is joining me.

The clinic do not look like a typical one. It’s actually a house. A Bungalow in fact.

The Clinic

This is the how the holding area looks like …Dr. Arthur’s accreditation filled up the wall!

Surgery room is located at ground level which is rather spacious and neat. There is also a gym located at the ground floor but I doubt any patient really be able to use it after surgery. The companion may consider though.

Bedrooms (with or without attached bathroom) and living room (attached to kitchen) are located at the 2nd floor.

The bedroom is decent with a small TV for entertainment. The con is that the TV hanged up making it quite hard to watch.

Anyway I don’t really use it as I brought my own latop over (downloaded a lot of drama to kill time for my 4 days 3 nights trip previously).

Really loved the living room. I

t’s very spacious and cosy and there is a “home-like feel” about it.

The interesting part is that Dr. Arthur is staying in the master bedroom near to the living room.

You can easily see him in his home wear walking around and having his meal in the living room. It’s a very “interesting” experience as in “living with the doctor”.

My mum simply adored him! Well, Dr. Arthur’s clinic/house plays these buddhism pieces which my mum finds it very nice. When she tried to check with the doctor where to get them

, Dr. Arthur passed her his thumb-drive for download. I could only say the sweet gesture makes my mum’s boring stay more meaningful!

Liposuction with Dr. Arthur.T

Hello Everyone…

Having gone through the process barely a year ago…I would like to share my personal experience for those who are really interested.

I’m not considered fat but l have a babyfat face, a pair of bulky arm and a pair of thunder thigh and calf. I have never been interested in plastic surgery neither i ever thought that one fine day i would get into this.

This! It all started when the “Boyfriend” constantly make fun of me “in a jokingly manner” that I’m “Fat”.

It became really annoying that i thought i want to do something about it to keep his mouth shut. Sounds bit extreme ..but honestly speaking who would not love to have a nice slim body? Therefore somewhere May 2013, i embarked on my research and this is where I came to know about this renowned plastic surgeon named Dr. Arthur.Tjandra based in Indonesia. He has a clinic located in Medan named “Elixir Devie”.

I was pretty surprised that a place so near to us in Indonesia has such a famous PS ..with all the raves about Korea. With an open mind, i explore the doctor’s website and i was blewn away by the before and after results i seen. Was i sold? Not immediately as photos may not be the best evidence.. therefore next step was going through the forums reading up all the discussions about Dr. Arthur.

The good reviews about the doctor makes me decided to write to Dr. Arthur about the many queries that i have about liposuction and i was skeptical that he will revert to me since he is so highly raved and seems to be a really busy man.

Same time I also emailed Dr. Arthur’s Assistant – Jennifer Cotto. I have seen her name being mentioned alot of times. Apparently she is the one to write to for the surgery pricing and booking of surgery slots etc. While waiting for the doctor’s reply on my queries, I have been liaising with Jennifer.

The prices that Dr. Arthur is charging compared to local PS, I would not say it’s cheap but considering the prices to get in done in Singapore which will cost an arm an a leg. I felt that the price for going to Medan is reasonable. On top of that Dr. Arthur also provide discount for patient who is earning less then $10K SGD a month.

I also came to know that he is performing the traditional liposuction using syringes which is actually more tedious and less invasive compared to machine assisted liposuction and gives much better and even results. While I was about to give up hope for a reply from Dr. Arthur, he replied. In his email he apologized for taking awhile to reply as he has been overwhelmed by emails and he proceed on to answer all my queries professionally and not at all selling.

At this point I was pretty impressed with the doctor as he took the time to answer my queries and it’s not like just a brief reply. He went the extra mile to explain in details. Most of Dr. Arthur’s patient will know that he visit Singapore on a monthly basis for consultation. The consultation venue will be in his hotel room. It sounds weird but in fact not. You will be surprise at the number of patient waiting in the lobby queuing to consult him.

The whole process is kind of interesting. Upon arriving at the hotel the patient is required to call/text the doctor and he will call you in when it’s your turn sort of on a first come first served basis. The day when i arrived to meet him in his hotel I was pretty impressed as there is a handful of “prospective patient” waiting to see him. Dr. Arthur seems really popular with Singaporeans.

I remembered waiting close to an hour before I received a call from Dr. Arthur to meet him at the hotel lift and I was kind of stunned when I meet him in person as he don’t look anywhere near to his actual age at all! On top of that he’s super fit with a great well toned body! The first question from him is “Aiyo you where got fats to extract?” and I was pointing on like “here”, “here” and “here lor” to all the problem areas.

Inside the room, Dr. Arthur ask me do I mind if we do consultation in group to save time as he still have a handful of patient to see. I was ok with the idea so we went ahead. So there was this couple with a baby togther in his room with us (the mum is also looking to do Lipo).

Throughout the consultation, I felt very comfortable with Dr. Arthur due to his friendly personality. I could really feel the passion of the doctor for treating liposuction as an art to sculpt the body of those who entrusted it to him. He is a Artist who take great pride in producing his many masterpiece results.

Overall he came across to me as a friendly, humorous and honest doctor as he was telling the other patient who went through delivery to lose some weight first before considering lipo otherwise the end result will not be ideal. Before I meet up with Dr. Arthur in person, I have heard people commenting that he can be blunt and true enough he is but in a rather good way. Why so? My mum who is interested to do eyebags surgery with him was rejected. The Doctor actually told my mum that it’s not necessary and don’t waste monie since she is already an “Auntie”. My mum was not offended but instead finds that he is a good doctor that thinks for the patient.

These 1shows that Dr. Arthur possesses high ethic for his work as he will give his honest opinion and reject cases that is not suitable. He do not just accept any cases that comes to him and every prospective patient has to go through a blood test to make sure the health is fine to go through the liposuction process with him.

For those who is genuinely considering liposuction, I would suggest a look at Dr. Arthur’s videographic or before after pictures of patient on his website. You can easily find the videos in youtube by typing in keywords like “lipo with Dr. Arthur” or “lipo in Medan” etc.

Alternative you may visit his website at http://www.elixerdevie.sg for more information.

Next post I will be sharing my story on my liposuction journey with Dr. Arthur.
